Clinical Chair
(GP - Birchwood)

Vijay undertook his medical training in Karnataka, India qualifying in 1993 and became a GP in 2000. He completed his VTS (vocational training scheme for GPs) training in the West of Scotland and worked as a partner in Paisley before moving to Birchwood Medical Practice in Horley in December 2003. Vijay is the Senior Partner at Birchwood and is also a GP trainer.

Vijay has played an active role in commissioning healthcare in East Surrey since Practice Based Commissioning came to existence. He has been particularly interested in education initiatives both for patients and clinicians. He is also keen to support GP practice development. He is a clinical leader with a passion for improving the care of patients with long term conditions.

Vijay led on the Transforming Care programme for COPD and Asthma as part of his role as Respiratory Lead for East Surrey. He was also the joint lead for Community Services and more recently has been working on redesigning services for the proactive care of people with long-term conditions.

Vijay was a clinical lead for out-of-hours provision in West Sussex and an educational lead for Harmoni HS Limited, provider of out-of-hours (OOH) services and later worked with IC24 ltd OOH services as an Associate Medical Director.
 
As a Clinical Director, he led on long term conditions, safeguarding adults, end of life care and co-chaired the Practices Commissioning Committee (a committee of 18 membership practices).
 
He has been the Clinical Chair of East Surrey CCG since April 2015.

Chief Operating Officer
Peter has over 10 years of experience in the NHS, most of which is focussed around commissioning, service development and  transformation.

Prior to joining the NHS, Peter has held a number of roles in the private sector in international trade and business administration.

Before joining East Surrey CCG, Peter has successfully led the set up of the corporate delivery, planning and governance functions in a large Commissioning Support Unit.

Peter has a passion for the NHS, its values and aspirations, and will always seek to apply his planning, improvement and transformational skills to help make  services better for patients.

In his spare time Peter enjoys travelling in England and abroad where he is trying to perfect his passion for photography.

Lay Member and Deputy Chair
David is currently a self-employed Public Affairs Consultant. For 14 years he was in charge of Public Affairs at Mencap with responsibility for campaigning and policy development. Prior to this, he was a Member of Parliament and a leading member of the Parliamentary Health Select Committee. David was a Borough Councillor for the London Borough of Croydon for many years, serving both as Deputy Leader of the Council and Chair of their Social Services Committee.

David has over 35 years' experience of public policy development, particularly in the health and social care fields. He directed Mencap's ground-breaking "Death by Indifference" work and is a determined campaigner for better healthcare for vulnerable adults.

David also played a major role in forming the Every Disabled Child Matters coalition of four leading organisations (Contact a Family, Special Education Consortium, Council for Disabled Children and Mencap). The coalition campaigned for rights and justice for disabled children, and was responsible for a change in law securing significant extra funding for the families of disabled children.

David's passion is driven by a desire to fight injustices, challenge unnecessary bureaucracies and to give everyone a fair chance.​

Heidi currently works as a salaried GP and trainer at Smallfield Surgery. Her areas of interest is in education, personal and professional development and leadership. She introduced the out-of-hour's service into the East Surrey area in the nineties and has in most recent years worked as an appraiser, QoF assessor, program director and GP Tutor.

David has worked as a partner at Oxted Health Centre since 1990. For the last 2 years, he has been clinical lead for both planned care and unplanned care in East Surrey, developing close working relationships with clinicians from other organisations. He intends to use this GP experience to improve patient care and developing joint working amongst all organisations - with particular regard to urgent care pathways.​

Practice Manager Representative
Sue Latham is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) with 15 years’ experience working in primary care in the West Sussex and East Surrey areas, and a varied professional background in management. She recently qualified for her AMSPAR diploma (distinction).

Her first career was in retailing in store management, HR and training and finally a Training Officer with 60 stores and 3,500 employees.

After a career break Sue began her career in primary care in 1997 as a part time receptionist. She then subsequently worked in 2 further surgeries before becoming Practice Manager of Oxted Health Centre in 2008 and then Lingfield Surgery. She is currently Practice and Business Manager at the Moat House Surgery.

Nici Jupp is a local business woman. She is passionate about delivering outstanding public and patient engagement and enabling our community to be empowered and engaged in improving their health and wellbeing. She lives in Oxted and has three children.

Yvette was a Non-Executive Director at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SaSH) for almost ten years and also held the role of Deputy Chair in the last five years.  She brings to the CCG a detailed understanding of sound governance, strong patient focus and effective change management.

Yvette has over 30 years of commercial experience from sales, marketing and general management in the pharmaceutical industry and as a management consultant. 

Yvette lives in Reigate and is keen to ensure that all partners in the local health economy work together and seamlessly for the benefit of our local patients.  She is passionate about helping the local population to stay well and helping patients to manage their health problems.

Ray has extensive senior and executive finance experience in both the private and public sectors.  During a 26-year career he has held Finance Director positions for acute,  mental health and community trusts as well as eight years for a manufacturing FTSE 100 Company.  His most recent role was with the CCGS covering Ashford and Canterbury, where he held the post of Interim Chief Finance Officer for the past six months.

Sam has worked in the NHS for 11 years.  The first 8 years of Sam's NHS career were spent at East Surrey Hospital, starting as the Cancer Services Development Manager before moving in to wider operational management in both Elective Care and Clinical Services.  For two years Sam took on the role of Commissioning and Performance Manager helping to build up her experience in these areas, before being appointed as the Director of Operations.

Sam has valuable experience in transformational work, particularly around the broader health and social care issues. This partnership way of working has helped ESCCG to always consider the wider implications of their decision making.

In her spare time Sam's young son keeps her busy with lots of sport and family days out.​​

Karen has over 30 years experience in the NHS during which she has developed expertise in leadership, quality, safety, patient experience and workforce development.

Karen has held clinical, managerial and director roles during her working life as a nurse and has also been a general manager in women and children's services and a deputy director of HR in an acute hospital trust. Latterly Karen has led end of life care and long term conditions work streams for South east Coast regional teams and held a commissioning role as lead for long term conditions in Surrey PCT.

Her passion for excellent patient care through good communication and team work is well suited to her current role.​
